PROGRAM OVERVIEW
When you think NASA, you probably think space, but NASA also
helps educators present math, science, and technology concepts to students.
NASA’s Center for Distance Learning, at NASA Langley Research Center
in Hampton, Virginia, enhances grade K-16 curriculums by providing educators
with FREE multimedia instructional programs. We use information from
NASA research in aeronautics, atmospheric sciences, and space transportation
to develop activities and programs that increase the awareness of math,
science, and technology as it relates to the real world. Our ultimate
goal is to stimulate interest in science and math fields.
There are currently four programs available. NASA’s
KSNN™, the NASA SCI Files™, and NASA CONNECT™ are grade
school programs that include an hands-on activities, web activities and
resources. NASA’s Destination Tomorrow™ is a technology-based
program for lifelong learners.
Because NASA is committed to inspiring the next generation of explorers,
NASA’s Center for Distance Learning is investigating Spanish-language
programming to encourage Hispanic students to take more courses in math,
science, and technology – we hope that they will pursue careers
in these fields. Many NASA’s KSNN™ newsbreaks and NASA’s
Destination Tomorrow™ programs are available in Spanish. We are
producing a NASA CONNECT™ and a NASA SCI Files™ program in
Spanish to test the level of interest in bilingual programming.
For more information about these programs, visit the program web sites.
